We are all good. Definately a long wait...
We had plans A through F: USMMA, USNA, USCGA, NROTC at ME Maritime or SUNY Maritime, Strategic Sealift Officer (SSO) program and NESA STEM Scholarship.
DS had 2 objectives: serve as officer and obtain a BS in Marine Engineering.
NROTC was a back up if he did not receive an Academy appointment (he was accepted to USMMA). He applied to ME Maritime and SUNY Maritime both which have NROTC units. Both schools accepted him. Both schools also offer the SSO program.
As tough as this process was, I would not change anything about it. My son as I have always been close and the ups and downs over the last year or so have strengthened that bond.
I know the NROTC scholarship my son did not earn is being used by a well deserving future naval officer who one day may be serving side by side with my son. It is all good.
