Navy Doing Away with Rates

They let you have the balut and let you in the Kangaroo court?! Wow! I can see the CPOs on the forum marching over!

We do let our CO and sometimes an Admiral go to the final night to help train our new CPOs... we did that last year!
We invited the CO, XO, Department head and sometimes Div. O in to the initiation to "Observe" but not to participate. Of course, they were fair game for any part of the process due to their mere presence. Of course I was part of the mess before Chief's had to go to class to know how to be Chiefs so things may have changed since then.

Said a even number... ;)

Certain aspect of the process has changed, and the word "initiated" has been replaced by "accepted" when the Mess is still taking the training very seriously. No more "balut" for sure!

Sad day when you can't use "truth serum" to illicit the correct response.

Phase II is the correct "replacement" name for Initiation, which was also called "Induction" and "Season of Pride" before its current name. It encompasses the selectee training to their (hopefully) acceptance and subsequent pinning.

I don't even want to know. Gives the term Mess a whole new meaning.

I knew that was coming... no worries.

"Shipmate, the watch stands relieved. Relieved by those You have trained, guided, and led. Shipmate you stand relieved... we have the watch."

Knew that was the case shipmate. Not worried, just sad for the loss of tradition. It was a Great ride. Carry On and fair winds and following seas.
