The whole article is nothing but complaining, but the last line from the coach reads
“It doesn’t do any good to complain about things. Just figure out what you can do safely and make the best of it”

Okie dokie ! :D
 
I honestly thought this was the Duffleblog at first.
I think the SAs are scrambling to play whoever they can.
 
The article does come off with complaining, which isn't Coach Ken's style at all. I think some of it is probably editing and capturing quotes without knowing what was asked, what was said right before or right after to give context. Bill Wagner has covered Navy for years though. But I do understand Coach Ken's concerns, it was a concern when they entered the AAC about timing of those key games and off weeks. It is what it is, and I am sure the team will do adapt just fine. I think bye weeks can be even more important with COVID if teams have an outbreak. Sort of like watching MLB right now... the team that can stay the healthiest with COVID has a huge advantage. I think USNA (and all SAs) has/have the advantage here due to all the precautions and having a nice wall around it with Mids who can't leave and control who enters. Like many of you... be happy to watch some football this fall! Fingers crossed all the student athletes can do that while remaining healthy.
 
I look at time on the field as a positive. Yes you risk injury playing a full schedule but there is certainly growth and development, facing an opponent rather that "sitting around." I didn't find the article to be whining. Maybe just reading frustrations with the challenges and ever changing environment the team and coaching staff are facing. “It doesn’t do any good to complain about things. Just figure out what you can do safely and make the best of it” seems more inline with coach Ken's attitude that I've seen. I'm with @justdoit19 beyond ready for the season and to watch some Mids play ball!!!
 
I didn’t read it as whining either. I am an avid sports radio listener, and stuff literally changes daily. So my lens-take was more “what now” situational read. What is the status-of-the-day kind of thing.

like @NavyHoops stated, there is the element of the ‘positive covid test’ gamble thrown into sports. Doesn’t matter how many games you have or haven’t plays, when if the time comes, you have key players quarantined.

I find this all so fascinating.

Without the benefit of reading the article because I have reached my limit for the month, I have to agree with the coach in my unbiased opinion.

We should suspend the CIC trophy until further notice. We are adults - we can send Army and AF pictures of it.
 
Not to highjack the thread, but I find the entire sports response a little frustrating. As with many things in the COVID response, some of it doesn't make sense and adds to the frustration level of many people.
Some things do make sense. No rugby? Makes sense with the scrum. Wrestling? Even during seasons without COVID infections are common. I don't see wrestling happening this winter. Swimming? Wait... swimming? I haven't heard of pools being an issue with infections. Meets can be limited in size. Changing rooms disinfected. Contact between teams is minimal. Same with track. Events can be limited in size, maybe staggered starts, but I see it as being feasible with little risk.
Of course, an issue might be money for these sports with football out of the equation at most schools. But some people might watch these sports on TV as there will be few other outlets for sports nuts such as my DW opening up the possibility of limited TV revenue.
People need outlets to stay mentally health. I mean aside from binge-watching TV shows and playing video games.
 
I hope this is a case of a writer cherry picking what he wanted to use as quotes because if not “whining” is a correct comment. The coach is not portrayed positively. But, it is Navy so what I’d expect. 😜 Go Army. Beat Navy!
 
Dominos continue to tumble. I’m afraid it will Happen for a while to come.

Big 10 cancelled, parents rallied and tried...to no avail of course. They showed up to headquarters to ‘protest’ Friday morning. Later that day, the University of Iowa announced it is permanently cutting men’s and women’s swimming and diving, as well as men’s and women’s gymnastics. Effective this year

Iowa hosts the NCAA swimming championship this year. The irony.

Unfortunately, I don’t think SAs will be immune to these cuts.
 
Its been an interesting story to follow. After the announcement was made, donors and alumni came out en mass. Wanting to privately fund the cut programs. Not sure how all that would work but it was a hard NO.

Then throw in Title IX into the convo, and what a mess...

now the coach claims lack of live drills impacted their performance in the game against BYU; methinks it was more like they got whipped by a vastly more talented team that played with more desire and intensity.
