Navy Football

If Big10 does indeed cancel the season, or postpone till spring (still not official at this point, but 'sources say'), then Nebraska looks likes it's planning to go on its own and play whoever they can find

new chancellor of the University of Nebraska? - Ted Carter
Ted Carter is the UN system President. Each campus has a Chancellor. The main role of the President at UN is Asking the legislature for money and allocating resources. To this point, Carter has had broad support. Going forward will be a challenge. A Big State U has many more constituencies than USNA.

The head football coach’s $5m salary is under the purview of the UN-L Chancellor.

i stand corrected, i didn't read the quotes from the Nebraska head coach correctly,

"The leadership at the University of Nebraska has been incredible," Frost said. "The guys that I've worked with, from the governor to Ted Carter to [Nebraska chancellor] Ronnie Green, Bill Moos and others, we're committed to play football at the University of Nebraska. I think our university is committed to playing football any way we possibly can, regardless of what anybody else does. I look forward to the opportunity to let our guys get on the field and show the progress they've made in a safe environment."

No biggie. It can be confusing.

The former NU President JB Milliken is now the Chancellor of the University of Texas system. Go figure.

To connect the dots further, the prior UT chancellor was retired Adm. William McRaven (he of “Make Your Bed” fame). Adm. McRaven is an NROTC grad of UT, class of ‘77.

Just in. Big 10 has called off football for this fall.

Will attempt to play this spring according to multiple sources.

look for ACC and SEC to hold out for a while but eventually buckle

Pac12 probably cancels the fall soon

Will be interesting to see what SAs decide. Chet has been very adamant that if they only play one game this year, they will play the Army game. With both teams living in a locked down bubble, and all the mids and cadets in the same bubble, maybe they could play the game in a small stadium with only mids and cadets in attendance

if everything else is cancelled, maybe they could play Army/Navy earlier in the fall, so mids can stay at home after Thanksgiving

or - maybe Army/Navy game gets moved to Memorial Day weekend , that would be fun

This is starting to take the shape of a civil war (small c, small w). As if we need yet another one, on top of Mask vs. No Mask, BLM vs. ALM, School vs. No School, Riot Indefinitely vs. Enough Already.

Playing the role of the North — no fall season — the Big Ten and probably the Pac 12 too. In the role of the South — let’s play — the SEC and the ACC of course. And for the border states, straddling the broad divide, the Big 12. It’s geographically uncanny, isn’t it?

And to whatever degree that you believe college players are a form of exploited labor, enriching others without (or relatively little) compensation, the comparison only gets juicier. We live in interesting times.

Big 10 cancelled.
No longer a rumor.
Just listened to the commissioner. Not sure what changed from a few days ago protocol/safety wise IMO it’s a liability thing.CF04183B-1559-40F3-9FE7-CC46343AC6EA.jpeg

These guys are hilarious. I watch them throughout the season every year but they stopped being funny when Bama didn’t make the playoff last year. Now they’re funny again.

As an SEC person, whether the big10 or pac12 plays football is irrelevant to the CFP. This just means we don't need a semi-final game this year. I do hope the Army/Navy game is played somewhere. We need it more than ever this year.

@lovetheheat exactly. There’s plenty of room in all the school’s trophy cases for another SEC national championship.
