Navy helicopter down

Nothing the pilots could have done.
The accident report talks about ā€œPCLsā€, or power control levers. These are the engine controls for the H-60 fleet (all types), and are located on the overhead panel. In a ground resonance event the pilots are to reach up and shut down the engines to stop it. It sounds like they were trying to do so, but the aircraft shaking and g forces quickly made it impossible. Imagine trying to reach overhead while being violently shaken and tumbling. Within seconds of the onset they were along for the ride.

Here is the full report---not pilot error but mechanical issue. A control harness failed as a result of damage caused during some past maintenance activity. For anyone who works in aviation field, these tragic events remind us that putting humans into the air is a mechanical wonder that needs utmost respect. One tiny little flaw can bring us back to earth catastrophically.

I didnā€™t clarify. My second link was a link to the accident report. Also, I assumed when I wrote ā€œnothing the pilots could have doneā€ that people would assume it wasnā€™t pilot error.

Sorry I missed your second link to the report and agree you were clear on not being pilot error.

Thatā€™s fine. I just wanted to make sure there was no misunderstand and that I was not in any way shape or form blaming the flight crew.
