clarification

I should clarify that it was an appointment to USMA. I will update appointment when DS clicks the box in his portal and officially accepts. He still wants to wait for the official package in the mail. I think he also wants to wait until his dad gets back in town.
 
Has anyone heard from Burr or Foxx? My son had interviews with both panels and he has not heard anything from either MOC's.

It may take a while, my son's interview for our district rep was weeks ago and we only found out about 2 weeks he had received one from her via letter. We still haven't heard from our senator, all we know was his package was competitive and would be reviewed without an interview.

But hey! We're up to 2 now and that's a GOOD thing! :shake:

My son heard back from Mrs. Foxx. He received a nom from her for USMA. His letter came in the mail yesterday (1/26/2012).
 
Burr

My DS just got a email today from Burr verifying that DS received a nomination from a different MOC resulting in an appointment to USMA. That was nice, since DS doesn't need another nom it opens a spot for someone else. That was a long answer to say that as of this morning Burr was still finalizing his slate.
 
Got back from college tours and found the letter from Foxx with the nom to USNA. Really exciting news all in all!

Good to know. I suppose the wait should be just about over to hear from these nominating sources.

DS has one nomination from our Rep. March still seems a long way off.
 
Is it great to hear that 49er and BCinNC! Congrats to both your kids I am also from area 05 in North Carolina and received a nomination from Foxx to both USNA and USMA and both showed up on my separate portals as of Jan 23 2012 so I am praying that I will get an appointment off of one of the two slates to one of the two academys but good luck to your kids.

Also does anyone know a ballpark number of slots that will be opening up for the Class of 2016? I can't find a listing of the numbers for the Class of 2012 and their approximate size.
 
Yes it is definitely wonderful news and my first choice is the Naval Academy but I would be more than willing to go to West Point if I got into there instead. Also don't quote me on this but I have heard a few different times on this site from people that a ball park estimate for the class of 2016 number of appointments will be in the 1600-1700 range for both the Naval Academy and West Point.

USNA will make a few less than 1500 offers of appointment in order to achieve a class size of slightly below 1200. USMA will probably be similiar.
 
My son received his nomination from Kissell for the USAFA. Now waiting anxiously for the news from them on an appointment or not.
