Hello community,
I recently filled out the Questionnaire forms for both USNA and USMA on their swim team. On the bottom of each was a question asking if i filled out the NCAA clearinghouse application. Am i supposed to fill this out now?
Thank you very much.
Dave

It isn't imperative that you do it immediately, but it is a good idea to get it done as soon as you can. You're going to have to eventually.

In order to compete on any DI team (Navy and Army corps squads are all DI, I believe) you will have to be cleared by the NCAA.

There are academic standards that have to be reached, and questions relating to your amateur status (meaning questions about you receiving money or rewards for competing).

Are you a senior? You should go ahead and fill it out if you are. It doesn't take long at all to do it.

Related question- do you get some sort of final confirmation (just an email or something) from NCAA once they have all your stuff. Just wondering because I've done everything I thought was required of me but haven't been told my clearance was complete or anything like that. I just don't want to miss something stupid.

Thanks for the response!
I am currently a junior so I dont feel at all pressured to fill it out. I will get to it as soon as I get my best swim times next season!
As for the qualifications, it states that I have to have at least a 2.0 GPA. To me, I feel like I can easily pass the qualification. the question is, how competitive and difficult is it to get into DI or an athletic scholarship for that matter?
Thanks :)

I think the final clearance doesn't come until NCAA gets your final transcript. At least that's what my amateur status says now based on without it.

No, you won't get an email. You will get one that shows that you registered and have an NCAA ID no. and thats it! Once you register on their site you have to keep checking back to see that they received all of the information from your school. In our case it took quite a long time and was very frustrating as the school stated that it takes a while to show up on your portal on the NCAA website. Make sure your guidance counselor has the NCAA ID no. and keep checking back to see that all of the boxes get checked off.

Make sure your guidance counselor sends in all of the required grades, especially the graduation confirmation!

Good Luck!!:thumb:
