hello community,
I just finished my DoDMERB exam with no problems whatsoever.
I am nearly finished with my personal statements for USNA/USMA and will submit those by the first week of August at the latest.
Nomination forms/information will be organized and worked on in August as my congressmen/senators do not accept them until October at the earliest. I am also applying for a nomination from my current SNSI of my NJROTC unit.

Is there anything else that I can do? Will sending letters of recommendation to the Academy's help or is that just pointless?
As many of you know, I am trying my best to get recruited for USMA's swim team. The coach told me that I have the possibility of being recruited all the way until January. How likely is this- as pretty much every recruited athlete i know was recruited in the Fall of their senior year.

Thank you very much. :)
Dave

I think it is important to begin your applications to your backup colleges and apply for an ROTC scholarship.

Complete your file as soon as possible, then its a waiting game. I know the wait is terrible but its just part of the process.

First, congrats on the personal statements. I have 1 out of three done for USMA (procrastination...2,500 characters...)

I'm not sure if you have done this or not, but for my nominations (my congressman/senators also do not accept until september-ish) I found the teacher recommendation forms online and had my teacher/counselor fill them out/ seal with signature before school ended. So I'm ready when the time comes.

have you taken the CFA??
I'm also finishing my applications to back-up school like ROTC's and other military institutions.

Good luck!

stephanie- thats a brilliant idea about the nomination thing. I shall notify my teachers about it as soon as school starts back in mid-august (thank goodness i have time until october )
I also did the CFA at USMA SLS and passed. I may take it again in the fall with my JROTC instructor and try and improve my scores.

speaking about ROTC, all i have left for my AROTC application is finishing the essays as well. The rest is the same as my USMA/USNA application (sending in transcripts, test scores, school related stuff) and I cannot do that until school starts anyway..

I am also looking into backup colleges but those dont open until the fall at the earliest for me..

thanks everyone!
