Hello Everyone. I have been a nervous dad who found the sight and have been lurking around for a few months now. I helps to see that others are going through the same thing and I also get some answers to some of my questions. DS has applied to USNA (his first choice), and also for the NROTC and AFROTC scholarships. I hope we begin to get some answers soon. I know he was up for last weeks AFROTC review board with results scheduled to be reported 3/5. It would be great to have one ace in the hole while we wait for the rest of the cards to be dealt!

Anyway, Good luck to you all as I know many of us are in the same boat!

Try to relax. I am a nervous Dad too. In the case of my DS, I constantly remind myself that my DS is a great, happy, healthy well-adjusted kid and that wherever he winds up, will likely be the place that is right for him.

Also, don’t lose sight of the fact that if serving his country as a commissioned officer is the goal, there are many paths.

You are right and I know we are blessed to have such great kids that are even competitive for an appointment to a SA. He does definitely want to serve thus the ROTC scholarship apps. I am just nervous for him because I know how bad he wants it and how hard he has worked.
Best of luck to your DS! Hopefully, our boys will be classmates at USNA!

Welcome f a not-at-all-nervous-2nd-kidmom.

This is a place where people understand.

This is the slowest/hardest time of the year....everything is complete. Nothing to tend to to occupy the brain. Lists are all checked off ✅. Now y’all get focused and excited on Plan B, senior year festivities (🤞), and graduation (🙏)!! And boom 💥 somewhere in there you get notice.

You are exactly right! Up until this point we have been so occupied with everything that we were not worried or nervous at all. All the applications, nominations, interviews, fitness test, etc... kept our mind off everything. Now we (mostly I) just want to know. DS is fine...not much phases him anyway. Plus, like you said...he has much to look forward to right know. Parents are planning for the seniors to still get in many of the traditional activities. Just met last week to discuss a Senior dinner, Jr/Sr prom and Senior picnic. All of this is “unofficial” as school can’t sponsor or be part of any of it. He is also getting ready for the hs baseball season and graduation. Lastly, he has an incredible Spring Break trip lined up with YoungLife to sail the Exuma Islands in the Bahamas for a full week. Exciting times for our Seniors, apprehensive times for us parents but I am so excited to see my kid take his next steps. We are very close and I am going to miss him at home but can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Good luck to your DS!

Note: Nothing against Air Force & Navy, but remember Army has biggest budget, most officers & highest demand for West Point & ROTC positions. Not a bad fall back option if Colorado Springs & Annapolis don't work out.

Hello everyone, college applicant here with dreams to attend USNA and almost done with AA degree. Had the privilege to visit for CVW weekend sophomore year and LOVED everything about it. Excited for the journey ahead as we all cross the finish line! Here’s to making dreams realities!

Same position here. Using the threads and forums to educate myself. Best of luck to your DS and family in the coming days and weeks ahead.
