Well, my application is almost complete. All I have left is my CFA and I scheduled that for next Friday.
ACT Super Scores:
Math: 24
English: 25
Science: 30
Reading: 31
Writing: 10
Composite: 28

Class rank: 280 out of 898
Weighted GPA: 4.209
Unweighted: 3.5

I have received a nomination from AFJROTC.
I am qualified by DoDMERB.
I had my evaluator interview and he said he is going to give me full points.

I am just really nervous at this point.

Take a deep breath and focus on what you can control; that’s a life skill, especially for military officers.

Any luck getting elected official noms?

I am in much the same position, but one good lesson I have learned is that worrying is absolutely worthless. It won’t improve your chances or situation, it just ruins your mood and drags you down. Enjoy today, the sun is shining, and life will go on whether or not you receive an appointment or not. But good luck on the cfa! Be confident and cool but don’t be overconfident.

I will not find out until Jan 31st. I have completed two interviews and I have another that is pretty late on Jan 18th.

With your level of math scores, I would be worried about passing IF you got in more than getting in. 24 Math as the highest score after taking the ACT several times is borderline abysmal. Math is easier to learn than reading, so there's really no excuse for that.

Have you completed your essay? Having a phenomenal personal statement might help you if you're worried about academics in admissions. I'm good with editing if you want to message it to me!

Take it easy, the forum isn't about cutting people down at the knees.

It's not about cutting anyone down. It's the cold, hard truth. No doubt a 24 in math makes you more likely to flunk out of an academy than graduate, in the unlikely event you got admitted to one. I knew people with 30s in ACT math that flunked out of school.

And I know people who work hard and test poorly. Leave some room for the rest of the world to unfold in front of you.
Agreed, and although the 24 may hurt his applications chance, there are other extraneous factors that will help to make up USAFA"s decision.

It’s the tone. Please be respectful and empathetic. There’s a better way to pass along counsel.

It's also all relative to where everyone lives. You can look at state averages or school averages and find that two candidates with the same ACTs could be the top or the bottom of their schools relative to everyone else. A 24 wouldn't be good at some high schools, but it might be phenomenal at others. I'm sure a student in a state like Wyoming or Idaho, where there are typically fewer candidates to begin with, the candidate might have an easier shot at getting in, and may actually be commended for getting such a high score. Just a thought.

Just know that you've done everything you can to get in. Sometimes, its just a numbers game. I didn't get in my first time with a 1410 SAT an 116 / 664 rank. Just know it'll be ok, and if you truly want to get in, and don't get accepted, you can always improve your application packet next year by going to college or a prep school. (IF YOU DON'T GET IN, TELL THEM YOU WILL GO TO A PREP SCHOOL, they might just help pay for all/some if it)

Good luck bro. I know the wait sucks, but you've got over a month for the big waves of acceptances to start coming in, so might as well just keep your grades up and stay out of trouble.
