This is a hard video to find, as I think it was taken down from YouTube for copyright reasons. May the copyright gods forgive me for posting it - it’s the USNA Anchormen a capella group in a 9/11 tribute.

Some of you know I was in the Pentagon in the Navy spaces on 9/11. Though I think of them throughout the year, today’s a day when the sadness for those we lost wells up all day long. It was a watershed event for me, and I have long since realized how much it influenced later decisions in my life.

Thinking about that awful day 18 years ago with my arms wrapped around my four year old as we watched those towers in disbelief, never dreaming he’d be in uniform one day part of that ongoing fight.

Never forget.

Bless all those who sacrificed so much as well as those who continue to sacrifice to keep us safe. For me, this day will always be remembered as the day my two oldest sons (11 and 9 on 9-11) promised to protect Mama from the bad guys. From that point on, their lives changed and they had a purpose. Both are now serving in special operations units, still just as passionate about keeping us safe as they were 18 years ago. In spite of all the sacrifices our sons have had to make, my husband (a retired police officer) and I could not be more proud. Thank you to everyone who chooses to serve. We will never forget your sacrifices.

Awesome video and tribute.
Words cannot express the sorrow for all lost then and because of those events, or the thankfulness for those who have served, now serve and will serve.
I think that day and the days that followed influenced so many of us more than we know.

Thank you Capt MJ.

Thank you for sharing the video. Very moving and beautiful.

As is the case for many of us, 9/11 still hits me very very hard.

My classmate and friend Ken Waldie from USNA "78" was our class president almost from the beginning of our time at USNA. Our class produced dozens of great leaders including well over 30 flag officers and four 4 stars plus many more leaders in corporate and other fields yet despite that overwhelming group, Waldo was OUR leader.

RADM Bud Flagg was my boss when I had my first command in the USNR and was a mentor to me in the years that followed. We had planned to get together for drinks and a chance to talk at the end of September but that was before the world changed.

I think of them often.

I learn something new every year. Hadn’t seen this. Amazing.

Biggest evacuation by boat in History. 9hrs. Bigger than Dunkirk (9 days). My friend just returned from USMMA parents weekend and her son told her that USMMA boats were used.

There’s a little hero in each of us.
