I have read lots of posts and still have some questions, or maybe just nervousness.
My daughter recevied her congressional nomination the end of November, and just received her senitor nomination. She uploaded her fitness videos, but still unsure if she passed them, where does it show if they passed? She completed her medical exam 3 weeks ago, how long does it take to get posted to your application? She does have the noncommittal letter. It's just getting down to the wire and nerves are getting to the both of us.

The information on the CFA is very easy to find on the internet. They don't tell you what is pass and fail but you can look up the averages and judge from there. DODMERB normally takes a few weeks and the government shutdown probably backed things up a bit. DD can always email her admissions officer ask if those results have been submitted yet.

Your portal will have a green check mark if you passed the CFA. As said before, you can look at the published averages and make a pretty educated guess if you passed. Being below the averages will make you less competitive even if you squeak by and pass.

Typically with medical, your initial evaluation will show up in the DoDMERB website then a few days later your portal updates to the same information. If you are qualified, then nothing else happens. If you are disqualified, your portal will update if a waiver is requested. Requesting a waiver is dependent on how competitive you are on your nomination slate and what the disqualifying condition is. If the waiver is approved, your portal will update prior to the DoDMERB website.

Make sure you understand the process. It is not really getting down to the wire. She is most likely on a competitive slate and a winner of that slate cannot be determined until the application window closes for all applicants. Once the window closes, admissions looks at all qualified cadets and determines the winner for each slate. This can drag on for a few weeks as the #1 applicant on the slate may need a waiver that is still processing or numerous other reasons. Most appointments come out in the mid February to mid March time frame.

Take a deep breath. The waiting is awful but it is something we have all lived through and some of us more than once.

As for the CFA videos...friend of mine uploaded hers but her pull-up one wasn’t good because of “too much leg movement” and it went back to being a red X. I’m not saying you should worry about this because if you followed the video and exercise instructions to the letter, you should be fine.

However, it doesn’t hurt to ask your RC. If my friend had asked, she may have found out about the issue sooner and had more time to fix it. The time between now and the application deadline is crucial. It would behoove your DD to dot her i’s and cross her t’s.

Good luck! Hope to see her at beast! :D

By noncommittal, you mean the LOE? That's good, it's not a 3Q but it's a good sign you're gonna get there, pretty much means go ahead and complete your app, you most likely won't be disappointed. As for seeing if you passed, you're sure fire if you're at or above all the averages on the website for the CFA. There are minimums - they won't tell you them, because the idea is "strive for greatness."

You've got both senator and congressional noms, so you're good on that side. The medical exam takes a bit because our government is just so efficient. Mine showed up early September, I took it early August. I'd give it a week or two.

If you ever have questions about the app, definitely try and talk to your Field Force Rep. Even if you kind of know the answer, ask the question. It'd be in your best interest for the Rep to know your name (in a good way ;) ). Asking questions also demonstrates you're serious. It'll just help out all the more if you develop a relationship with your Rep.

Good Luck!

Having a relationship with your FFR is a good thing but please make sure you have tried to answer your own questions and done some research on how the process works before you send him or a her a list of questions. We are happy to help candidates but we usually do not have time for hand holding.

Thank you all for the advice, I was just worried we were getting close to the cut off date. We don't have a FFR in our area, there is the admission person we received the letter from, and she mentioned a liaison officer we could reach out to. Other than that there has been no communication, so I didn't know if they were people you should reach out to, don't want to be bugging anyone. I just didn't want to miss a step and be kicking ourselves for it.

You do not have enough post for a PM to look in your area for you, but the portal should list a FFR to contact. Your daughter could also follow up with he RC with an open ended question like "Dear Sir, I have submitted everything that was required. Is there anything else I need to do"

Like I mentioned earlier, we are still a few weeks away from the deadline.

Hey if it makes you feel any better I did pretty terribly on a lot of the the events in the CFA and still got an appointment. Im talking near theoretical minimums so anything is possible.

Just to confirm - does a green check means you passed the CFA or does it just mean that they have it. My DS took it in August and was not happy with the results but has a green check. He's been preparing to retake it in the next few weeks. Is it a pass/fail for the WCS or is it actually graded?

Not really sure about the green check deal....there's two "scales" to the CFA if I'm not mistaken, though. One is passing all the minimums, and the other is getting high enough cumulatives. For example, you could theoretically get past all the unpublished minimums, but if you aren't above a certain cumulative score, you don't pass the test. On the other end, you could get maximums in everything but the basketball, but if you fail the basketball, you fail the test. That being said, because it's only 10% of your WCS, it's basically a pass or fail. If you pass all the minimums and get a high enough cumulative, you pass. Squeezing out one extra pullup won't bump your WCS up a whole lot (it'll still move you up, but it's not worth the same as moving up a point in the ACT).

Thanks Arty! He took the CFA at the end of football camp and probably should have done it prior. He moved up 40 points on last SAT so that is what we have to live with. His brother is a Cow who was told he might not get in and he is smoking everything so we'll trust the process. DS has noms from both Senators and Congresswoman but it looks like they were already spoken for early in January. We are hoping his SDVET nom will get him in now and just wondering what else he can do. System is a lot different from back in the day
