My district is changing its congressman in January. Does anyone know what the procedures are for nominations? Do the nominations have to wait until the new congressman takes office to be released or can the current congressman do it before he leaves?

The sitting congressman would be responsible for the current nominations. Hopefully they opened up the process and accepted applications and put their slate together. Did you apply to them? Have you heard anything back?

Yeah the applications were due on November 1st and I had my interview a few weeks ago. The interview was about a month earlier than it was last year. Not sure if that's an indication of anything. Haven't heard anything since.

It sounds like it is all in order then and it will just be a waiting game to hear. You could give it another week or two and then politely reach out to staffers to inquire on the status if you haven't heard anything yet.

I wouldn't worry about it. I didn't hear a yes/no until around the holidays. Most MOCs will submit their slate to the Academies in the December/January timeframe. Additionally, the office is probably in a whirlwind trying to work on the transition for the new MOC to come in. Unfortunately, taking care of nominations isn't likely the first item on the priority list.

Yeah I kinda expected that. Lots of things going on right now that they have to deal with. Oh well, nothing I can do but wait.

Thanks for the input. I left a message the other day asking about a different part of my application so I guess I'll also ask about the transition when they call back (Although their office has been terrible with communication lately). Either way just gotta wait it out.
