Hello everyone. I am a high school freshmen (15 y.o.) and am very interested in attending USMA. I am working on my Eagle Scout so I'll have earned it for when I do my application, and am a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow. I attend a public school and am enrolled in all honors classes. I am strong academically with a 4.0 GPA. I am in AFJROTC at my high school and am on the armed drill team. I also have held many leadership positions such as the Senior Patrol Leader of my Boy Scout troop, the Flight Sergeant of my JROTC class, Vice President of Jr. Beta Club in middle school (relevant?), among many other things. I went to the Boy Scout National Jamboree this past summer where I served as my troop/group's chaplain. I just turned in my application for high school Beta Club. I'm on my school's soccer team and will be on the school swim team my sophomore year. Don't know if it's relevant but I'm in choir and have been in both Parish and District honor choir for the past 6 years, and have been in All-State choir once. I've started to put more emphases on my fitness. I'm in pretty good shape and performed 2nd best in my JROTC freshmen class, but I definitely need to improve.

I love military history and have a passion for WWII history, as both of my grandparents served during the war. I've been interested in joining the military from a very young age, however I became interested in attending a service academy about 2 years ago when someone in my Boy Scout troop was accepted into the Naval Academy. I actually started some research a few weeks ago when someone else from my troop was accepted into USMA about a month ago.

I am very new to all of this and am eager to learn.

-Matt

First time I've logged into this forum in years. I'm currently a Firstie at USNA. Time sure flies..
So do you have any advice for the earlier you? Looking back, was there anything in particular you wished (or glad) you knew about the process as a freshman to prepare for the application, etc? The first post makes it seem like you had the beginnings of a great resume.

Just as @justme said, any advice for Freshmen? I'm considering USMA as my primary, but will most likely apply to USNA as well, do you regret not going to USMA, and if you don't mind me asking why you didn't attend?
