Sorry if this post was answered elsewhere but I searched and couldn't find the answer. My DD received an NROTC for Tier 1 and was asked to submit her new student paperwork but she has not yet heard from the host school. She did accept the NROTC already but is waiting for the SAs. Should she submit paperwork or wait?

If you accept the NROTC Scholarship does that disqualify you for consideration to the SA's? I know you have to respond within 4 weeks of the ROTC offer but many of the SA's won't offer an appointment until close to spring. What do you do?

No, it does not. It is quite common for students to accept more than one offer until everything comes in.

I'm not sure who is requesting the new student paperwork, but I would suggest your DD submit any paperwork requested by the Navy or her host unit as requested. If she is offered an SA appointment, it is a simple matter of a phone call to inform the NROTC unit that she has accepted an SA appointment and will not be using the NROTC scholarship.

The paperwork request came from Great Lakes (sp?)- basically for the summer's boot camp. So filling it out does not lock her in to NROTC?

That would be New Student Indoctrination (NSI). No, filling out that paperwork will not lock her in to NROTC. There will be many NROTC scholarship awardees who are also pursuing SA appointments. She should continue following the path she has in hand (NROTC) until she has a final answer on the SA. If she is offered an appointment, she can always decline the NRTOC scholarship. Nothing she is doing now is binding and locking her into that path.

Anyone out there who has completed their NSI paperwork? DS brought one to me that has me flamboozled. The dental one. To me it looks like its to be completed by them, but it comes with highlights, and the instructions for the whole packet say to send everything back completed. I have looked through it all and its not clear...anyone else done theirs and how did you complete the dental piece?

We both went through the packet and there aren’t instructions. Not sure if I can post a picture of it or not.

He will email his school Tuesday if no one here has already dealt with this.

For the Medical & Dental Release form (2870) DS left the name of the facility blank (since he doesn't know where exactly he'll be treated if he gets hurt/sick). For the dates of treatment he put the first date of the first session through the last date of the last session (since he doesn't know yet which session he'll attend). He sent his packet in last Monday and received an email Wednesday night that his packet had been received, processed and he was marked as administratively complete. Hope that helps.
