New York Senator nominations

i just received the nomination for kings point from schumer and carolyn mccarthy...but i never heard from clinton's office which is kinda odd but w/e...
schumers interviewers really just wanted to find out what kind of person you where and stuff...more personal question then other....whereas mccarthys office had a board of 5 people-3 were ex military...they seemed to be more interested in that you have researched you goals

Obviously, each MOC's method is different. I was surprised to learn that some MOC's don't even do interviews. Apparently, Sen Clinton's office did not notify those who were interviewed, but didn't get a nomination. There were no nominations in Nassau County from Clinton's office.

Sen. Burr was the only one from our state who DS had to interview with. Our other two went with the written application. We are also in a state that they do not coordinate with each other so it is possible to get 3 noms.

Senator Schumer's slot to USNA?

Did anyone on this forum receive Sen. Schumer's slot for USNA?

Son had interview with Clinton's office and Congressman.
Never heard back from Clinton, got nom from Congressman right before Christmas.

Schumer's office called first week of January, but upon hearing son already had nom, said no need to be interviewed since he had the nom. In retrospect, upon reading preceding replies, I wonder if that was a miscommunication.

MB530- The same thing that happened to your son happened to me, too.
It's really only necessary to have ONE nomination. NY is a relatively competitive state and since the Senators and Representatives are only allowed to nominate a certain number of candidates, it is like taking someone else's slot if you get more than one nomination. I told the people at Schumer's office that I had my nomination from the Congressman from my district and the woman said "Oh so we won't be needing to schedule an interview then. Congratulations and good luck on getting your appointment." and that was it. Has your son found out if he received his appointment yet?

Update: Decline of nomination letter from Senator Clinton's office arrived this week dated March 11, 2008.

USNA2K12,to answer your question (better late than never), yes. He's currently in the dark abyss called the waiver wait.

Sorry about not receiving the nom., but I wonder why she sent the letter so late? Afterall the books close on Mar. 1., thus by Mar. 3 if you look at your online application it shows who your sources are (at least AFA does) and you know you didn't get it.

As everyone says you only need 1 and coming from a competitive state it is great that you got the nod:thumb:

Good luck!

I guess she was busy in Texas or Ohio or....

But his waiver was granted yesterday, a few hours after my last post :thumb:

out of the dark abyss!!!

MB530, receiving a medical waiver is a wonderful step forward! :thumb: Congratulations to your son!
