I was just looking at Senators Schumer and Gillibrand's application info on their websites and I noticed something interesting. They both say they only allow each applicant to apply for a nomination to one SA. I want to apply for a nomination to both Annapolis and West Point and I'm considering Air Force as well. Can anyone who went through this process last year give me some insight on this? I find it hard to believe that they would only allow you to apply for nominations to one SA.

I don't recall seeing that when DS was applying last fall. They do request ranking your service academy selections, however. Only Gillibrand publishes nominations so you can see form her selections that she didn't give any applicant more than one nomination this year.

Some on this forum have suggested switching rankings when applying to the different MOCs - e.g., USNA for Gillibrand, USMA for Schumer, USAFA for Rep., if you truly don't know which academy you prefer.

Also, Sen. are only nominating 10 per available slot from across the state so it does make sense that they want to 'spread the wealth'. Reps. are obviously looking at a much smaller pool and may or may not have 10 applicants in their district to each of the academies. Clearly, you're more likely to get noms to different academies from your Rep.

This is one of those situations where 'it is what it is'. Good luck.

by the way, I think Anthony96 had a nomination from Gillibrand for USNA and a USMA nom from his Rep this year. He may be a good resource to reach out to.

It's true that they only allow you to pick one SA to be nominated to. My Congressional Rep was the same way. In the end, I applied for a nomination from Senator Schumer and my Congressman. I was initially going to use the Senatorial nom for USNA and the Congressional nom for USMA, but I decided by October that USMA was the place for me, so I put it down for both of my applications. Also, at my interview with Senator Schumer's representative, they told me that if I received a nomination from my Congressional Rep to let them know so that they could give their nom to someone else who didn't yet have one, which is what ended up happening. I don't think that would apply if you were trying to get their nomination for a completely different SA however.

I live in New York and I was looking at the senator's websites too. On Senator Schumer's website did you notice how it said to write a written request for a nomination, yet it was also attached on a link at the top of the page? Do you think you are still going to write a request, or just use the attached application?

USAFA2019hopefu - I suggest you call Senator Schumer's SA coordinator. I wouldn't be surprised if Schumer's process and paperwork changes to at least move into the 20th century....
