It appears to me that WP athletes wear Nike gear. At least a random sampling of action photos from the WP athletics show that various teams have jerseys with the Nike logo on them, so it seems a safe assumption that Nike has a contract to outfit WP teams. That is the way it works now in D1 sports. In light of Nike's decision to award a major endorsement to someone who is most famous for refusing to stand for the national anthem, does anyone think that WP should switch athletic outfitters as soon as possible?

Always thought the sword-through-the-Spartan-helmet thing was odd.
You get a sword through your helmet and you're DRT.
Maybe Athena's head isn't in her helmet, there? ;)

Nah, they can just keep bagging on Navy over the carts because that seems to be their priority.

    Doesn’t sound cost effective.

I just wish we could keep politics out of sports. When I watch a football game I just want to watch football.

Just like some want to go to the store or drive to work without being stopped or harassed based on the color of their skin.

I thought it was funny that the Army paid Nike all that money just to add two of its names together. "Army West Point" - I'm sure they put a lot of time and effort into figuring that one out.

Oh don't be bitter.. Some tease about it but deep down everyone knows those Middies just look precious pulling their little carts so they don't have to carry those heavy bags.

If you are trying to diss someone, please do it correctly.

Please examine the difference between "paid" and "payed". Even my Navy retired ENLISTED husband knows the difference.

I'm glad you got the formatting correct the second time around.

We all need some proofreading once in a while.

EDIT: Since we're going there, the adjective you were looking for is retired, not retire

To be precise, Kaepernick has been a Nike athlete for quite some time now (since 2011 I believe). It didn't seem to piss anybody off until the ad came out.

Frankly, I don't think Nike is un-American. I think they're trying to align themselves with what they believe is the prevailing public opinion, and in doing so, make boatloads of cash.

Envious of all the attention Army West Point has received for its rebrand, and not wanting to be seen as a tired, antiquated, passé brand, the Naval Academy announced today that its teams would henceforth wear uniforms that say NAVY ANNAPOLIS.

“I don’t know where you got the idea that we were copying the Military Academy,” Athletic Director Chet Gladchuck said at a press conference revealing the change. “Any resemblance to their recent rebranding is purely coincidental. In fact, we started our effort before they did. We just took longer reaching consensus.”

He said the academy initially considered ANNAPOLIS NAVY, but a trademark search revealed that this name is registered by the Annapolis Yacht and Country Club.

Gladchuck shared examples of redesigned uniforms, on which the UnderArmour logo was significantly more prominent than any Navy symbols, such as the N* or the goat mascot.

“For the sake of a consistent brand, we wanted our uniforms to look more like the apparel we sell in the Visitors Center and Mid Store,” Gladchuck said. “That’s why the UnderArmour logo is so big.”

The football team will debut its new uniforms at this year’s Army-Navy game, which CBS Sports has officially renamed ARMY WEST POINT VS. NAVY ANNAPOLIS: THE BATTLE OF THE BRANDS.

Just so we're clear here, I wasn't poking any fun and intended no disrespect to our brethren on the Hudson.
I just asked the question as to why the sword is going through Athena's helmet.
I don't know the answer, and am interested.

Just so we’re clear, “Army West Point” is a dumb name.

Gosh, it has always been the Army/Navy game, right?
Now it's gonna be "the Army-West Point / Navy-Annapolis game?

    Ugh.
