My DD has been offered the NROTC scholarship for her first choice school. As of yet, she has not been accepted. Should she reach out to the NJROTC instructor to let him know that she has submitted her application? Also, she's becoming more interested in her third choice school (VTechCC) because of the structure and more of a military atmosphere vice a traditional ROTC unit.
Also, how difficult is it to change schools once you have an acceptance letter from the new school of your choice? Her #1 choice is to attend the USCGA; although she has a strong academic and extracurricular record, I don't believe her PFA scores are satisfactory and she's waiting to hear if she could resubmit after applying EA. These are very stressful times. Best of luck to all!

Is your DD in NJROTC currently? If yes, then reaching out to her instructors is within her prerogative; I assume they could be of assistance in recommendations, etc. If you mean her soon-to-be chain of command at NROTC, then I’d wait until she knows what her plan is, however, its likely that LT will reach out themselves.

To your second question, if your DD has been awarded the NROTC national scholarship, all it takes to change schools is another form. It is pretty early in the cycle so it shouldn’t be too difficult to change the scholarship location. Additionally, changing it from a school not accepted to to a school which she was accepted will be easier. But note, make the change when you’re sure because it‘s unlikely two changes will be granted. Your DD can reach out to her recruiter/scholarship coordinator for assistance if she needs it.

I think it always serves people best to pick the best school for them and then consider how you want to serve, but in your case, VT has a strong military presence. Good luck!
