I heard that USMMA sponsored preps at NMMI recently completed review by admissions....does anyone from NMMI know the success rate of that bunch? How about self-preps?

Had similar questions regarding USNA Foundation sponsored preps when Major Hanak advised notification was emminent (last week in a different thread).

Disappointed that I have not heard back from him.

Also, curious about the success rates for self-preps (for all SA's and ROTC scholarships).

I don't think he is avoiding you as it doesn't look like Maj Hanak has been on here in the last week. Why not call him on the telephone so you can get all of your questions answered at once instead of going back and forth on this forum? He is a great guy to talk to and my personal interactions with him were always informative when my son was considering NMMI for his Falcon scholarship this time last year.

Sorry about not being prompt. Two reasons for this: 1. I usually don't check this forum on weekends. 2. Notification of appointments needs to come from official channels first. Despite the current use of social media to spread personal information at the speed of light almost instantaneously at the time of an event - the proper/"old fashioned" etiquette methods must be followed.
That said: FedEx packages containing appointment offers were mailed last week to 19 USMMA sponsored preps here. The remaining 11 will be deferred until the USMMA reviews final transcripts and holds another board. Of those 11, one will also need a medical review.

The Navy preps were also deferred until the end of the semester. Reasons included both academic and medical issues.

The West Point AoG preps were all notified that they received their appointments over a month ago.

We are still waiting for official word on the Falcons. There have been a lot of rumors on them as of late, but nothing that I can post here.

As for self preps; we did get two for the USMMA and one for the USAFA. Most of the others are on a wait list or “hold status” until 1 MAY. This is typical until the “dust settles” at the academies and those who are undecided actually make their choice.

As for next year, the Falcon Foundation just released their list and the candidates will be asked to choose if they will accept the scholarship and (if “yes”) which of the eight participating Falcon schools (up from five last year) they want to go to.

Other sponsors continue to adjust their lists. Just last week we discovered a person who was on both the USMMA and USNA Foundation roles. For obvious reasons that person will have to decide which way they will go and open a slot for the “road not taken” to somebody else. The West Point AoG has released three lists, so far, on 19 MAR, 23 MAR, and 13 APR. Last year they released seven such lists with the last three dated: 2 MAY, 10 MAY, and 13 MAY 2011.

As Yogi Berra said, “It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.” Hang in there!

Major,

Thanks for your answers / insights.

Congratulations to your candidates that recieved thier appointments;
and good luck to those that are still waiting.

I know all involved have worked very hard to achieve what they have earned.
