When did the past USMMA recruited athletes find out if they were appointed to NMMI? Any 2015 HS grads find out, yet? Our DS is a USMMA recruited athlete and hopes to attend NMMI next year. We know it's a waiting game...but it doesn't make it any less stressful. Thanks.
 
I'm a NMMI Cadet. None of the Merchant Marine preps right now have heard back. From what I know, they hear pretty late (April).
 
My son received his NMMIappointment this week.

Yes he is a recruited athlete. His portal changed to NMMI Principal
 
Our DS attended NMMI last year. He was a "recruited" baseball player and is currently playing at KP. They found out that they got into KP in mid to late April. Due to the admissions office being currently understaffed, they are a bit behind.

In regards to being a "recruited" athlete, it is not the same as a D2 or D1 level recruitment. The various athletics no longer get a pick or picks to get that athlete admitted to KP. This was done away with this past year. Being an athlete does help in the overall course of work that the candidate has done to get into KP.

For those currently at NMMI or that will be going, it does an excellent job of preparing the individual for KP. My DS's NMMI class had 40 sponsored preps and about 33 made it to KP. From what he has told me, all are doing well academically. Most of the sponsored preps in his class were athletes but not all. The preparation from NMMI made his Plebe year less stressful in many ways.

CMW, not yet. Coach called my DS to tell him that the admissions counselor, that handles NMMI appointments, was out all week. Hopefully, DS will hear something this week.
 
Application Status:NMMI Principal
Looks like our DS will be heading to NMMI 2015-2016 before (hopefully) moving on to USMMA class of 2020! He is not a recruited athlete nor an URM but he did struggle with AP Calculus this year, which is likely why he didn't get in directly. We are waiting for the BFE - the status just changed yesterday :) Good luck all!

Congrats, WashingtonMom. Our DS's status changed to MMI Principal yesterday. It looks like he will be one of the first to attend USMMA's newest prep school. BTW, where are you from in WA. We were stationed in Bremerton (1989-1992) and Whidbey Island (2005-2008).
 
Thanks! Best of luck to your DS at the MMI! We are in Bellevue, a few miles east of Seattle. My DS is excited to leave the gray weather for the sunny SW :)
 
@WashingtonMom where did you see the application status change. The only place I see status is under DS Medical, otherwise I don't see this word in the portal. Could you be descriptive on page and location for me, thanks!!

Chris, when you log into the admissions page "check application status," you'll see the Application Status in the upper left. It will say, "App on File," "Hold," or something else. In my DS case, his says, "MMI Principal." Good luck.
 
@WashingtonMom Congrats to your DS!!! We are from the other coast (NY). My son is a recruited football player. We received an acceptance letter, long with scholarship info. Good Luck...see you at NMMI!

My son accepted his FF to NMMI a week ago Sunday -----he was advised paperwork is on way from NMMI ------- but nothing yet----- any idea when they need to report? By the way were from central Texas
