Just heard about this unusual development from Kings Point. Although generally only a few Mids want to branch Air Force each year, I know a couple who are super disappointed right now. The reason given is funding shortage on the Air Force side.

One I know wanted to be a pilot and one wanted to do logistics. In most years, all AF jobs have been open to USMMA grads.

I was just there last week on a football recruiting trip with my son and one senior who was there was going to AF pilot training...FYI, so hopefully the choice still exists..

Word just came out yesterday to class of 21 AF applicants via email that due to funding issues, no AF until FY 22 which would mean 01OCT2021. Maybe it affects only class of 21 and not class of 20?

10 years from now one of these two will be standing on the back deck of their OSV, wipe the south Louisiana humidity from his brow, turn to his ABs Boudreaux and Thibodeaux and say, "did I ever tell you I was almost an Air Force pilot?"

This can't even be possible. There are two AF selection boards and I don't think the second one has passed yet. There were at least 10 in my class, with at least a few pilots that I knew.

If they want to go AF it's still possible. Select to delay the Navy Reserve commission, an option open to all, and then AF OCS after graduation. The AF liason has no doubt gone over this with the students. I suggest not making these types of grossly misleading and incorrect comments.

The way the gulf is the KP mid will be the AB and boudreaux will be master.

Can't speak for the class of 2021, but I have classmates (2020) who have Air Force spots.

I should have been more clear. I was writing about class of '21. They are exploring options right now. It looks like they may be allowed a delayed commission until the new fiscal year starts.

Maybe allowed a delayed commission? Everybody gets the option to delay commission 1 year because after you are commissioned it's 10X more difficult to get to another service or even within the Navy.

Just saw this and it suggests c/o 2020 does have USAF members and pilot slots:

@kpmom2013 was referring to Class of 2021 in regard to the no AF postings and administration/Air Force were looking at possible delayed commissions. Class of 2020 does indeed have Mids commissioning into the Air Force.

What is a kid who wants to go into the AF doing at KP? There's a much better school for that purpose located in Colorado Springs, CO.
