I just received word that I won't be receiving an appointment, wont be deferred to RA, and won't be able to go to prep school. Being apart of this application process was definitely something that kept me going. I really appreciate everyone on the forum who helped out with everything along the way. Good luck to everyone moving on to RA!!

You can also self prep at GMC or MMI and reapply next year.

Best wishes to you. When one door closes, another opens.

Good luck with your plan B (or C or D). Take the time to assess what your next step us. My DD, was deferred from. EA to RA last year, then waitlist, then not picked up from Waitlist. She went with plan B this year, reapplied and received an appointment-- ya gotta think "How bad do you want it?"

Congratulations to you and your DD! That's great news!

Question: what changed in her application from last year to this year? What do you think put her over the top?

AZ Mom - Not to answer for CGAdad = In almost ALL cases like hers...from my foxhole...the year of added experience, education, etc puts them over the top. Over the decades, there are literally hundreds of applicants that make it on the 2nd and 3rd attempts for those very reasons :wiggle:

Thanks... my DS was deferred to regular decision. CGA is his first choice and he's trying to understand what would turn his application to a yes.

With another semester under his belt, he's got a Varsity letter in cross country. Also, this may be the biggest thing - he founded an esports club 2 years ago that became a Varsity team this semester - and he's Captain.

His ACT was a 29. With the Oct 2020 test, it went to a 31. He let his AO know in Nov, so I think that was considered in the EA round but not sure.

He is wondering if he should revise his essays, give them another edit?

Appreciate any thoughts.

Updates are allowed so his improved ACT score, the development of the esports club his letter and making captain. However I am not sure he will be allowed to change his essays. He will need to ask his AO about that.

I have no insider knowledge, but if it were my son, I would suggest that he add an optional letter of recommendation from the eSports club sponsor/teacher detailing the work that went into establishing the club and describing its growth or whatever led to it becoming a varsity sport and what your son did to contribute to that. I don't know if it mattered or not, but since my son applied to be an EE major, he had his Science teacher do an optional letter of recommendation going over his accomplishments in that arena. Good luck to your son in the RA pool! And he should definitely confirm with his AO that the updated ACT scores are in his file.

Thank you for this! Great idea - he will definitely get that letter of recommendation!
