No Candidate Visit?

Hello all,

I am excited to have accepted my appointment to USNA last month. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to visit campus yet. I've seen people with LOAs/offers on here who have received invites, but I haven't heard anything about getting a candidate visit. After contacting admissions, I learned that my admissions counselor no longer works at USNA, so I reached out to the new person. I also went on the live chat and received an email address. It's been over a week since contacting these addresses with no response. I've also checked my spam to no avail. Any insights? Graduation and celebrations are around the corner and now would be an ideal time to schedule something. It obviously won't make or break the decision I've already made, but it would be nice if first impressions of the Yard weren't made on I-Day. I've heard the area is beautiful and I would love to see it before reporting.

Thank you!

I don’t know the ins and outs of candidate visits, but I do believe this is what makes them less likely. Aside from the pandemic and USNA’s efforts to protect the Brigade, attention is now turning to end-of-the-year rituals. These are things such as finals, Sea Trials, and preparation for Commissioning Week. All are more vital than candidate visits (even those by candidates with offers).

As many alum have said here: Most see USNA for the first time when they arrive for plebe summer. It’s been that way since the beginning. A preview is a nice to have, but certainly not a must have. Like you said, it shouldn’t make or break your decision.

I don’t know if they’re still offering any more dates. They originally added a couple more dates since the first one was cancelled and they reached out to some more people but I’m pretty sure this past friday was one of the last if not the last one according to ‘25 appointees I’ve been talking to whom received the email for these April tours.

Admissions sent me an email to register a candidate visit day on April 30th. I was able to sign up today, so see if that email is somewhere in your email.

I gave admissions a call today and they directed me to another email address. She got back to me this afternoon and said she copied the person that sends out invites in the email. They'll get one out to me. Thanks for the info!

I'm hoping it will come together. Even my BGO was among those who saw USNA for the first time at plebe summer. However, as you said, it won't make or break my decision. Thank you for the response!

And for the younger classes to come: at some point, USNA will be open to the public and you can do your own tours 💯
