Hello, I am a junior in high and I am going to apply to West Point for the class of 2023. I know that West Point admissions is like 60% academic, and class rank is what they look at, but my school terminated class rank and it will not be on our transcripts. I have taken the ACT, and I got a 33. However, my GPA is not as high as I would expect, since I mistakenly taken too many AP courses and received low scores on them (my weighted gpa is around 4.0). So I am just wondering how Wes tPoint would consider mapplocsnt swithout a class rank and how good I am academic wise? I know with West Point you never know but I am kind of worried with my GPA, as attending West Point is a dream of mine. Thanks
 
^^Seconded. But you will need a statement from your high school written on your signed and sealed transcript that your school does not rank. My high school doesn’t rank, which is kind of better for the students because it’s super competitive. Don’t sweat it!!!
 
Don't sweat rank - DS got 2 SA appointments without it.

BUT - work hard to get ACT/SAT scores up including multiple tests of each. If your state doesn't use SAT as default test register on your own - you can take both tests in all 50 states. SAs superscore so no penalty for multiple tests; only upside.

Don't neglect athletics - still time to letter in track this spring if you don't have another sport.

Ok. Yes, you do not need class rank. But I would push a little bit (don't be like offensive about it obviously ;) ) but push a bit and see if they have a rank. My school claimed they didn't class rank and lo and behold they actually did they just don't like telling people that (cuz I guess people's feelings get hurt) hah.

I'm sure not many people would be about lying about it when you say US military academy, it's a feather in the school's cap if you get in. A 33 ACT is fantastic so don't sweat it if they actually don't have it. It's just that then a whole 60% of your app rests solely on your test scores (which can be good or bad).
 
It seems to be a thing of the future that class rank is being abolished in most school systems. Everyone gets a trophy, now. ;)
The service academies know how to change with the times, so the "don't sweat it" advice is good.

Class rank was still part of the class of 2022 application, but I expect it will be changed for the 2023 application. I don't have any hard data to back that up, it's just a hunch.
 
My son’s school didn’t provide class rank unless you specifically request it. Once we told them it was for the Academy, they looked it right up and gave it to us. He had to sign a paper and they put it on his transcript.
 
West Point handles many schools that do not provide a class rank. They will still submit a "school profile" that describes other measurable for your high school. They will also use your ACT score to help develop a class rank if it is really not available.

You test scores are good but remember there are other parts of the process. Keep working to have all parts of your application strong.
 
For those of you out there who don’t have super high GPAs, it’s fantastic if you can bring it up to a 3.7-3.8 unweighted for your junior year and bring up your standardized test scores. I kept taking the ACT till I finally got a 33 because my GPA was terrible freshman and sophomore year.
