No nomination... End of the road?

Just received LOA to USAFA... uh oh.
Apply for the VP nom to USAFA if you haven't already. You never know. I know its your plan B but if plan A doesnt come through (although I expect it will)?

Yes @Coach62 and @kjc_25 . I did list AF as #3 because Navy has always been my #1 and I have an LOE from West Point, so I was trying to maximize my chances at getting into one of them by ranking it (USMA) #2. I spoke to my Congressman's office today and changed my preference for #1 from Navy to AF... I interviewed last week but I guess decisions were not yet made. Hoping for both, but not sure if that's possible. @kinnem I already submitted by VP application months ago with Navy listed as my preference. Hoping the change to my nomination ranking from Congressman's office will be honored. Air Force was my plan B, but I am willing to secure it, even if it means lowering my shot at Plan A. I still have one nomination to both USNA and West Point, which is better than nothing, and a pending NROTC application. As I mentioned, my main goal is to attend an Academy and serve as an Officer, and after today looks like that is going to happen so I am very happy!

My DS did not receive a MOC nomination. We are in NoVA- a competitive area for MOC nominations. To date, he has received a Presidential nomination and an ROTC/JROTC nomination. The info on the letter from our congressman sent to him confirmed that they do try to award nominations to other outstanding candidates who have not yet received nominations from other sources. He was disappointed, but understands the explanation. He was warned of this possibility during his congressional nomination interview.
We'll wait to hear from the Vice-President ofc. Does anyone know when those nominations will be released?

@ 1mom, first congratulations on your son getting TWO nominations! The more nominations that you have the better as it allows the SA to slot your son to various source. I may be mistaken but the VP nominations, actually the one that are slated to the VP, are chosen by the respective SA's. Remember on I-Day/R-Day, no one cares how they are slotted only that they got the appointment to that Academy.

Thank you. I agree with you. Of course, as long as an appointment is offered, the goal has been met.

lol, I didn't mean from what state. My bad, but I wanted closure to the story.
I completed my application to USAFA for my November 1st deadline and had my file labeled as "competitive". However, I received one Senatorial nomination to Navy and the other to West Point. I was hoping to be able to receive more than one nomination from my rep, but unlike years in the past, he had an unusual number of applicants and was only able to nominate each person to one Academy. When I had to choose, I opted for a second nomination to Navy. Does this mean that this is the end of the road for me at Air Force? I did apply for the VP nom but know that that is a major long shot.
Thank you

Throughout the thread it looked like your nomination options had dried up. Only a VP nom was left. Were you able to convince one of your MOCs to find a Nom?

Oh, gotcha. Sorry! Yes, I had already interviewed for my congressman's nominations, but had not yet received a decision. I called and changed my order of preference, and he was able to give me one to USAFA.

Congratulations! That must be so reassuring, hope I hear similar news soon. :D
