No Nomination

I received a letter in the mail today from my local congressman informing me of my nomination to USAFA. Though I’m happy I received a nomination, USNA is my first preference. With that being said, are my chance next to 0% for an appointment to USNA?

Your post is titled “No Nomination,” but you do have one. It’s for USAFA. What does a USAFA nomination have to do with a USNA offer of appointment? That’s a very broad leap.

This much I know, from my DD’s personal experience and from reading SAF: It ain’t over ’til it’s over. Your chance is 0% only after you receive a TWE. Until then, I encourage you to stop overthinking the process, continue working on Plan B, and start enjoying senior year.

A nomination is required to be appointed. Did you apply for the VP nom? That is a long shot looking at the numbers, but it’s still a possibility. Not sure on your stats, and not needed to be shared here, but NAPS or Foundation could always be a possibility too. So finish the app regardless (if you haven’t). Congrats on the Nom to USAFA. Time to do some soul searching and really evaluate what your goals are and what service you want. That should be driving you as you look at Plan Bs. USAFA, if offered, could be a great option, but if at the end of the day your ultimate goal is to be a USN Officer, then that tells you what you should be doing. Take some time to really evaluate your goals and try to enjoy the holiday season. It’s okay to not have it all figured out today. Eventually the answer will come to you.

As Navy Hoops stated VP seems like your only possibility. USAFA is a great choice if it fits your career aspirations. Only you can decide which is the best option for you.

look at NROTC to one of the Senior Military Colleges , with the exception of University of North GA as they're army only, if you're looking for the Corps of Cadets experience and top notch academics
