I used a smoked ham hock so I wouldn't have to wait. It was heavily smoked, which makes it related to bacon, right?Who knew that the Senate and the Capitol had competing bean and ham soup recipes? How interesting. Will make the Senate version as soon as I acquire a small ham with a meaty bone. Thanks!
We don't get ham often since it's just the two of us. When I really need ham for soups I get some diced ham and use that. The bone would be great in this though, hence the smoked hock.
