No Soup For You!!!

Who knew that the Senate and the Capitol had competing bean and ham soup recipes? How interesting. Will make the Senate version as soon as I acquire a small ham with a meaty bone. Thanks!
I used a smoked ham hock so I wouldn't have to wait. It was heavily smoked, which makes it related to bacon, right?

We don't get ham often since it's just the two of us. When I really need ham for soups I get some diced ham and use that. The bone would be great in this though, hence the smoked hock.

I think I have one in the freezer actually. I use it for split pea soup.

To you I say, the 1/4 ham by Smithfield, spiral sliced. Not overwhelming amounts of meat, but lovely, satisfying slices of ham.

Thanks, I'll have to keep an eye out for it. We live near the beach and our stores are not as well stocked for some reason.
