Nom letter lost in the mail?

I got a nomination from Rep. Sensenbrenner (WI-05) that showed up on my portal on December 15th, and I got a call from his office on the 22nd confirming it. The person I talked to said that I should be getting a letter in the mail regarding the nomination, and that although letters were mailed about 10 days prior (December 12th, ish), the delays in the mail had prevented many nominees from receiving them at that point. Almost a month after it was mailed, I still haven't gotten it, and at this point I presume it was lost in the mail. The tricky part is, Rep. Sensenbrenner retired this year, and I've had trouble contacting Rep. Fitzgerald's office, his successor. Even if I was able to talk to them, I don't know if they could do anything about it, as I didn't apply through Fitzgerald's office. Is this letter important or not, since I already have the nom? I'm sure it was just a formality, but I can't help but wonder if there may have been important information in it. Are many MOC's nom letters important in that manner or are they mostly just to notify you of the nom?

Nice to have, but not critical. Your SA has what it needs to credit you with the nom. It would be a nice item to add to your documents from this time, but not necessary. USPS may spit it out of the system yet. I just received holiday cards mailed Thanksgiving weekend.

I just posted a thread asking for advice on similar topic. I have received an email from my district office contact saying that I have a nom to USMA and USNA and my USNA portal reflects that nomination. However I have not received the formal letter in the mail, and my USMA RC says they have received nothing. My Congressman's office says that USMA is reviewing the submission. I have an LOA to USMA and this is the final step for me. I am not sure how to follow up

I would provide a scanned copy of the email from the District to USMA Admissions and RC to ensure they have something, at least unofficially. Follow up at regular intervals. There is time to get this resolved. It’s an admin delay somewhere.

Just in case. Be sure to sign up for USPS informed delivery. It allows you to see your incoming mail before it is delivered. Very useful source of info.

I was going to offer this piece! Beyond being able to see what’s coming, for giggles and kicks, I formed delivery is a useful tool for situations where mail/packages are marked “delivered at box”, or similar, but aren’t there. IOW, lost mail.

It came in handy this past Christmas for us! Has a REAL purpose beyond knowing when the BFE is coming 😬

Just confirming that you aren’t the only one experiencing something like this and that my son’s letter did eventually show up. The day my son called the retiring congresswoman’s office to ask about the letter that he knew had been mailed 1-2 weeks before, he was told to wait another week and then call back again if he still hadn’t received it. I was surprised that they wanted him to wait longer but then it showed up that very night so I guess they were right! The most important thing is that the academy has your noms on record.

Thank you for that, and good luck to your son!

Thank you Ma'am

I received word from my congressional office that USMA had accepted the slate and the nom now shows up in my portal! Thanks for the advice

A Nom from/for Dependant of Disabled Vet showed up on my daughters dashboard, will she receive something in the mail or an email stating that she got it?

Noms relying on eligibility criteria are given to those who rate them, shown in portal. I don’t believe letters are sent these days for those.
