Nomination but file closed

Good day to you all.

So I was curious if this is the end of the line for me. I recently got a letter in my USAFA Application Mailbox saying my file is closed due to my low CFA scores the second time around. But I recently checked again and I received a nomination from my congressman, unsure when but most likely after I received the online letter saying my file is being closed. Despite this amazing news does this mean I will no longer be able to attend USAFA or even USAFAPS? Currently, my files says:

Status: Disqualified
Your Application Is: Complete But Disqualified

If anyone has had this occur before, is there still a possibility to receive admission to USAFA/USAFAPS or even at least receive a TWE? Or am I completely out of luck?

Not entirely upset, I made it this far and I'm proud that I even got a nomination despite me believing I didn't stand a chance during the interview. Thank you all for your time.

I'm afraid that failing the CFA (2x) is generally disqualifying. The nomination will not resuscitate your application. Your disqualification is a form of "TWE" in that it precludes an offer of appointment.

Good luck with plan B, etc., or as a re-applicant. As far as USAFAPS goes, bear in mind that it is generally not a place for students who failed to be "physically qualified."

Understood, thank you very much for the information. I am proud I at least received a nomination, I was sure my interview was a mess but somehow I managed to pull through. Of course, I am a bit saddened, I'll continue working towards becoming an officer or if all else does not work out I can always work towards enlisting. Once again thank you for the reply, better than being unsure and believing I was still in the run.

The SA's are NOT the only place great officers come from, many from ROTC, direct commisioning programs, the enlisted, etc. Good luck and thanks for your interest in serving.

100% agree.

@ryandan004 - execute your alternate plans and keep this in mind as an obvious example: current CJCS, General Mark Milley, is a ROTC officer:

Top of the food chain and not a SA graduate!

And that's not uncommon for flag/general officers. Yes the SA's get a big chunk, but so do ROTC and OTS grads.

General Colin Powell, City College of New York AROTC, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and later The Secretary of State
Admiral William McCraven, University of Texas, Austin, NROTC, USSOC Commander, and navy SEAL
General David Berger, Tulane University NROTC-M, Current Commandant of the Marine Corps
General Kenneth McKenzie Jr., The Citadel, NROTC-M, Current US Central Command Commander

And the list goes on...

Yes! Be SUPER proud of the nomination. It’s unfortunate that this year there was little to no pomp and circumstance for those nominated die to Covid. Our district usually does a formal ceremony and celebration.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
and Good luck.

You'll have to reapply next year. DQ is DQ for this admission cycle. You can reapply on July 1st (not March).
