Hello all, I received a nomination from the Senator about a month ago, and my application still says "Complete Pending Review." My application was in around mid November too. I do still have an interview with my congressman this weekend, so I' m wondering if that is why I haven't received a letter yet. However, there is another student from my school applying to USNA, and he and are at the same place: both went to NASS, both got a nomination from the same senator, and both got an interview from the congressman. He got an LOA last week. What does this mean? Do I still have a chance? Will I even get a letter? Thank you!

You still have a chance. No one can tell you anything definitive until the TWEs go out in April. You don't even know if the other applicant was charged to your senator. You still have the possible representative Nom and then the national pool.

The wait is tough. Make sure u have a solid plan B

Typically, a nomination will not result in a LOA. Although required, the nomination process is really independent from the admissions process. The nomination process is handled by your Congressman's office. The admissions process is handled by the admission office. The admissions office has the edge in the process as they can simply turn away an unqualified candidate with a nomination, but can find a nomination for a candidate that they really want.

You are fine. Just because he got an LOA doesn't mean you won't get an appointment. My Plebe Year squad mate from an extremely competitive high school... there were 6 from his high school with direct appointments to USNA from his high school graduating class. Hang in there, be patient, work on Plan B and most importantly have some fun! Its your last semester of high school, enjoy it!

DD had a Senator and Congressman NOM her year. Both slates had candidates with LOA's. She did not. She got an appointment and so did they. Remember one from each slate will be selected and charged to that slate. The other nine go into the big bowl to compete for SECNAV. In theory all 10 on a slate can get appointments. Hang in there.

Oh okay... that's definitely reassuring. Thank you, and I'll try!
