Hi All,

I need you guys' help. I am a US citizen (I was born in Michigan when my dad is studying there) / Filipino citizen that lives abroad in Manila, Philippines. I am a rising Junior and I go to a former DOD contract school (follows American curriculum). However, both my parents are not US Citizens. Maybe except for a few relatives in the US, my parents do not own any property or pay taxes to the US government. My Question is who do I ask for a nomination? Or is there any legal way for me to become a resident of a state without living there?

Your help is much appreciated!

I believe that is about INTL cadet. You are not an INTL cadet but a US applicant. You can apply as a US applicant and with no state representation you can only apply for the VP Nom.

You can qualify for service connected nom if you can enroll in JROTC Program nearby. But you must enroll in one for two years minimum so you must find one now.

Otherwise you can apply for VP Nom. This means you must be a stellar applicant all around. Top academics top leader and should have done team sports in your high school. Done something to demonstrate that you are a servant leader by demonstrating volunteer service to organizations. These are things you should have already done no later than from 9th grade to show that you have been doing these things.

If you are starting many of these things now you are going to have tough competition against those who already have. It is possible that not many will get a VP Nom since only 1-2 VP Noms are given to each academy each year.

For you you may have a better chance at applying to US Coast Guard Academy, the only school that does not require nomination. If you are strong in all but Nom, then you have a better chance at USCGA.

Good luck
