From what I've read, not all MOC's send letters stating your nomination. My son received his phone call on Dec. 24th, informing him of his nomination, but has not received a letter. It would have been nice to have one for a scrap book (from a mom's point of view).

Just wanted to make sure this is not out of the ordinary. Good Luck to everyone still waiting to hear.

I wouldn't worry about it. Many MOCs send a letter of some kind but not all. Fewer make personal phone calls so your son getting a phone call was very nice. A lot of Reps also hold an event in the Spring for all Appointed Candidates (a fewer percentage of Senators do so because of travel limitations). If your Rep has an event such as that, they will likely also provide a very nice certificate at that time. Many such events are held in the March/April time frame and typically include only appointed candidates. Those that I am aware of have the MOC in attendance and take photos with each candidate and the MOC as well as family shots with the MOC. Usually a classy event.

Letters from the MOC may not be signed by the MOC but rather the staffer because Congress has been in session a lot of late so getting the signature is difficult at best. Without the MOC's personal signature it loses something, though the Congressional letterhead itself is kinda cool, just way cooler with the MOC original signature! Hopefully your MOC will have some kind of event later in the Spring for appointed candidates.

I probably gave you more info than you really asked for but suffice it to say that your son may still get something - who knows. Each MOC is a little different. The important thing is to be sure that the nom appears on your sons online status page with the SA.

Thanks for the reply, and you can never have enough information. If my son received an actual letter, or certificate he would be greatly appreciative. Probably not more then me. You know, that whole proud parent thing.

He wasn't able to obtain a nomination last year, so when he received a phone call last month, it meant the world to him. Again thanks for the reply.
