Hello all,
I was reading the nomination guidelines for West Point and I saw that people in JROTC could seek a nomination from their unit to an Academy. Is that same rule applied to the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets? Thanks for any help.
 
From what I understand, Army JROTC cadets can seek a USMA nomination. JROTC usually go with their respective branches.

Yes you can apply for a nomination to another service academy branch, I am in Army JROTC and I applied for a nomination to USNA. Usually as long as your unit is honor unit with distinction you should be granted a nomination. Though I think NJROTC can nominate three even without being honor unit with distinction, but Sea Cadets will need an honor unit with distinction. If you want to apply for this category, time is running out so try and send everything in by the month because it takes 3-4 weeks to be received and processed.

Another thing to keep in mind is that this nomination is not competitive, so as long as your unit is qualified. You will be receive the nomination and out of approximately 250 candidates who are given this nomination, which also includes ROTC mids/cadets, only 20 appointments can be offered under this category. SA Admissions websites are the primary source for nom type info.

Sea Cadets, while officially endorsed by the Sea Services, are an independent non-profit youth leadership organization staffed by volunteers in the field. Sea Cadets is not the same as NJROTC.

A respectable percentage of Sea Cadets go on to SAs or enlisted service. I recently saw 10% as a number for USNA as an average for plebes with NSCC experience. It's a great hands-on program. Cadets who go on to enlisted service may merit starting at a higher pay grade.

NJROTC, per their website, is an in-school program, with paid staff, which can nominate, per their guidelines, see link below:

Note... I would love to be contradicted about Sea Cadets.
 
Capt MJ you actually right, I will like to retract what I said about being able to get nom from sea cadets.
 
Here is the USMA language from the code covering ROTC and JROTC. No mention of sea cadets. This refers to the total brigade of 4,400 and how many can be chsrged to each nominating sources.
20 nominated by the Secretary of the Army, under regulations prescribed by him, from the honor graduates of schools designated as honor schools by the Department of the Army, the Department of the Navy, or the Department of the Air Force, and from members of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps.
