Nomination without Notification

Hey everyone! I checked my USMMA application today and noticed that the "Nomination" section next to the portal had become a "yes," but I had not heard anything back in communications from the congressional staff. Has anyone else experienced the same?

Another quick question - Does anyone know the process for how they respond to applicants? I understand it is rolling admissions but I am unsure if you need your 8th-semester transcript in the portal before a decision can be reached or if it is "attractiveness-based" not considering that portion of the application (8th-semester transcripts typically are released in January). If anybody has this information I would extremely appreciate it!

No, they do not need seventh or eighth semester transcripts in order to make an offer of admission. But you will need to provide them as soon as they are available to show your continued academic progress. My two DD's and one DS who were SA applicants received a total of seven nominations from three different congressmen and no notifications were made except on the portals for the respective SA's. Sounds like congratulations are in order for you!

Our son has a 'yes' in his portal too. Not sure who it is from and haven't received notice yet via mail or email or call. Just happy it is there.

Congratulations! For my son I think it was a a week difference between the portal showing nomination received and my son receiving a letter from the Congresswoman. Portal stated it first.

"Yes" means USMMA received a nom. I am 100% sure about this. When you receive an official letter(s) from MOCs, you will find out who provided a nom(s). Congrats!

UGH! DS received a phone call from the Senator nominating him over a week and a half ago and it STILL doesn't show in his portal!!!

Plan to see it mid-January. Now take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy your remaining time with your DS. Congratulations on the nom.

Just fyi. Nominations are normally due by the end of january. As a result you may receive notification from the moc or senator when they decide but before their paperwork is sent in

My daughter received her Senatorial nomination notification via email December 16, around 6 p.m.

She received her Congressional Nomination letter in the mail the next day.

She logged in to her MM account the evening of the 17th and it showed ‘Yes’ in the nomination field.

Same thing happened to my son! He received a congressional nomination to the USNA and then got TWE from his two senators. Today we completed the first part of his USMMA application and immediately it showed that he had a nomination. How can this be? He did not apply for any other nominations aside from the ones I listed.

Elected officials can give noms to applicants even if they did not list the associated SA as one they were applying to. This happens every year. Maybe the MOC had additional room on his/her slate of 10, and thought your DS should get it.

Look this gift horse in the mouth and thank it.
