Hi, I will be applying to USMA for the class of 2025. I know that actual nomination applications don’t generally come out until the spring, but I am nervous that I have waited to long to contact my representative/senators. If you have any advice at all, it would be much appreciated!

Each elected official conducts their nom application/interview process differently. Each of your Senators and your Representative will have specifics on their websites. Go there and take good notes on what’s required and deadlines, if the next cycle is posted. They have staffers who coordinate the process, so there is no need for you to actually contact your elected officials personally, if that is what you meant.

There are usually SA Info Nights or sessions, but I suspect those will be delayed or canceled due to the COVID-19 situation.

@Capt MJ is right as usual.

For NYS, there was an email to sign up for SA info night. All SAs were there plus ROTC.

The event was in September. The application for the nomination came out on their website shortly after that ... the deadline for applying for the nomination was in October.

our state the senators you don’t even contact, it is all online application

The nomination applications became available March 1st in our state and are due by the end of August. Our congessman's on the same timeline only his deadline is early October. So you are not behind. Go to their websites and they will have an "Academy Nominations" tab with all the info that you need. One of our senators does his completely online and the other does his completely by mail. Good luck.

Go to each website of the nomination source - and bookmark them so you can quickly check back. Many are currently accepting applications. Congressman, Senators(2) and VP. Most close in the fall, at which time the evaluation and interview process starts. And don't forget Service-related nominations if those apply. See the Admissions website for guidance. Good luck!

A question regarding a similar topic: With ACT and SAT tests cancelled or postponed I do not have the ACT score I want yet (taken once) and have not taken the SAT. The online applications for my representative and two senators require input on the ACT or SAT. Could anyone offer advice on if I should fill the application with my current scores early or wait until late summer when I have taken more tests (taking next available test)?

You should wait til you have a better score. You want to put your best foot forward.

Complete your packet. Make sure it is well written to exact specifications. Last but not least, practice your interviewing skills!!!

We did not begin applying until June. I can only speak for our state, but not sure how MOCs can assess candidates until early summer after transcripts are released. The best thing my son did was to apply to our MOCs STEM program. By the time nominations came around his congresswoman's staff new his face better than any candidates in the district.

Hello,

After looking at the application for the Vice Presidential Nomination, I noticed the spot where you select your preferred academies. I was wondering does it hurt your chances of receiving a VP Nomination if you select all 3 academies? Or is the application just looking for you to select your top choice? I have a top choice, but would be would be honored to attend the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, or the United States Air Force Academy.

Thank you for any advice you would be willing to give!
