Do most senators seem to wait until the last minute to nominate? Does anyone know the reason for this? Possibly the academies are working with them? Just curious about other opinions on this.

Not our experience...

From our experience, our senators responded promptly after the interview. DS #2 received a letter from our senator within 2 weeks of the interview informing him of his nomination. He received a letter from our other senator the next week. He received a letter from our congressman a few weeks later. All have been very prompt in responding.

We are in Florida (since I guessed this may be the next question).

If you are wondering if the senators have already sent out their nomination notifications, call and ask to speak with the service academy coordinator.

Best Wishes...

MOC Notice

Hi
We had our letter within two days of my DS interview. He only applied to one MOC as anyone else was not in a political party he was interested in asking for favors.
Regards
John

We are in WA state. It looks like last year the senators didn't get their nominations out until the very end of January/early February. They don't do interviews so not sure why it takes so long.

WA Senators

We are in Washington State also and have been waiting to hear about our Senator's nominations. The letter hasn't arrived yet but DS checked his USAFA application portal earlier this week and learned that he had received a nomination from Senator Maria Cantwell  so the announcements should be happening soon! :thumb:

DS received nominations from Congressman Doc Hastings to USAFA, USMA & USMMA in December.

Congratulations! Our DS received a congressional nom but so far nothing from the senators.

We actually heard from both our Senators first. One was leaving office so I assumed that he would let his applicants know early; however, the other Senator's letter followed less than a week later. Good luck!

DeanoMom.....just read your post Congrats! You must be so proud!!!! Where is your DS leaning if you don't mind saying?

Thank you t&omom! I am very proud of him!

USAFA is his #1 choice. We are scheduled to tour the campus and check out the area in a couple of weeks and he is really looking forward to that.

Great for you and your family! What a blessing! Good luck to you and your DS!!!!

The Nomination is not a favor of any political party. Apply for all nominations the candidate is eligible for. Why give up a chance for a nominitation? Political party has no consideration, believe me. DD had Democrat and Republican nominations and they all only looked at her qualifications not my political registration. How would they know (since it is a committee selection and review) and why would they hold political affiliation of the parents against a candidate? Glad he got the letter now hope for one of the 1,200. Good Luck to everyone with that special letter and hope you all get the BFE!
