The North Texas U.S. Service Academies Forum, jointly sponsored by Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and Senator John Cornyn, as well as Congressman Sam Johnson, Congressman Jeb Hensarling, Congressman Joe Barton, Congresswoman Kay Granger, Congressman Kenny Marchant, Congressman Michael Burgess, Congressman John Carter and Congressman Pete Sessions will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010. This informational forum provides interested students grades eight through twelve an opportunity to learn more about our nation's service academies, requirements for admission and the selection process.

Representatives from congressional offices, all five academies (U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and U.S. Air Force Academy), and ROTC, as well as current academy cadets and midshipmen will be on hand. North Texas students, parents and educators will be able to hear from and meet with these representatives on a one-to-one basis to become informed about the excellent possibilities associated with attending these premier educational institutions and the sorts of careers they generate.

Special guest speaker will be Chad Hennings, an Air Force Academy graduate who as a Dallas Cowboys Defensive Linesman won three Super Bowls. The Forum, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 8:00 AM – 12:00 NOON on the campus of Tarrant County College – Southeast (2100 Southeast Parkway, Arlington, TX 76018.) Registration opens at 7:30 AM.

For more information regarding the North Texas Academies Forum, or directions to Tarrant County College, Southeast in Arlington, please contact Robin Vaughan, Office of Congressman Michael Burgess, 972/434-9700 or robin.vaughan@mail.house.gov.

I will be there from DoDMERB also:thumb:

Questions:
1.) Will the representatives be there or just their reps?
2.) The notice says "... come & stay; NOT come and go!" Can a parent show up after the kid? I have school on Saturdays... & can't miss the whole class :-(
3.) Having never participated in one of these... What should we expect?
4.) Lastly, what's the attire to one of these?

Thanks!

was a great event - loved chad hennings talk about what areal hero is not some overpaid athlete!

It was an overflow crowd - just to show how much the interest is in the academies.

It was great to have cadets and middies for the kids to talk too! Note Kids to talk too, It was great that the emphasis was on talking to the kids not the parents - the North TX parent clubs were there for that!

Time to start the process with my daughter now:thumb:
