Can anyone elaborate on life after ROOKDOM;
1.Do you have to still eat with your cadre/ assigned upper class mate and fellow rooms every meal or can you go eat on your own ?
2. If we are all supposed to eat together at the same time when we have different schedules how does that work? ( ignore if no answer.)
3.Are there vending machines? (Even if they just sell water and healthy snacks)
4. Is the weight room open to rooks?

I am a rook right now and can answer most of these questions.

1. We already eat breakfast and lunch on our own, dinner is the only meal we eat as a platoon. Once we are recognized I believe you are free to eat dinner whenever you want as well.

2. Same as above you will go whenever you have time. You will most likely have friends in your platoon that have the same classes together so go with them.

3. Yes, depending on where you live. All the academic buildings have them and I don’t know about other rook barracks but Alumni hall has one that is stocked with energy drinks, coffee, soda, etc…

4. Yes, whenever you have free time you will be allowed to use the gyms after rook week. Alumni hall even has its own gym on the first floor.

I was a Rook last year and I can answer this.

1/2. You will still eat dinner with your cadre and platoon through the end of Rook Year. My platoon marched to and from dinners basically every night until the end of the year. Your STT (yes this will continue post Recognition) and your dinner times will flip from the first semester. Lunch and Breakfast stay as go when you have time and with who you want. Meals will still all be in the Abare dining room until after Rook Year regardless of recognition status.

3. Yes to the vending machines.

4. Gyms should be available based on your schedule unless you go after hours.
