Hello, for all those who have an offer of appointment, whether accepted or undecided, submit your criminal records consent form ASAP, as it is due the 31st of March. This is separate from your decision, and the form can be found in your portal. Just wanted to give a heads up. Congrats to all the appointees!

EDIT: Corrected date to the 31st from the 30th.

Isn't the due date different mine was like Feb 1st?

Yes, I believe that is correct. It depends on when you received your offer of appointment, and it will say a due date on the 2nd page of the letter in the portal that states "USAFA needs to perform a Criminal Records Review check on all new appointees. We need for you to sign and return a consent form permitting us to do so. Please open the attached letter for details."

@Peter2025 - please double-check your info before you post. I do not think you are correct as USAFA admissions are rolling and the date the background criminal consent form is due will likely be different for most candidates based upon the date of appointment. Some candidates that received appointments months ago had a due date that is long past, and I would assume those appointed today and going forward will have different dates depending on the date of appointment.

If in doubt, check your portal and ask your ALO or Admissions Team member.

Absolutely correct. Earlier appointments required the background check form be submitted within 2 weeks of the letter advising of the requirement (sample size of 1)

You are surely right, I saw the deadline on my portal and was anxious for my fellows. Sorry for the confusion.

USAFA asks for the records release to be provided within 14 days of the appointment offer. We need to process all the releases and run background checks before the class in-processes. The sooner we get an appointee's release the sooner we can perform the background check (so we're not trying to do them all at once and at the last minute).

Bottom line is the "deadline" in the letter is not enforced and no one has to worry that missing it will impact their appointment. Please get them in as soon as you can, but do not stress or call your counselor if you missed it.

Thank you for clearing that up!
