Notifications/Appointments

Looking at the historical threads on this forum it seems that the first EA appointments/notifications occur on the Friday before Thanksgiving. Will this hold true this year as well? Will there be notifications/appointments today?

I hope so. Has anyone heard yet?
 
Last year my daughter heard from Coach Tuesday of Thanksgiving week. I believe that was the first day communications started.

If you talk to any 2027 parents or current 4/c cadets, I think a common theme would be just about everything seems to be running a bit behind the plan/anticipated timelines this year for a variety of reasons. New administration, etc, etc. By no means bad, but it is what it is.

That said, I would be a little surprised if EA appointment communications started rolling out next week. I certainly have no crystal ball, but that’s just my vibe for what it’s worth.

It’s tough being on pins and needles, but try not to stress.

The dates have varied each year. I think the only thing you can be sure of is that EA applicants will get a response of some sort before Christmas. For the class of 2024 (first year with Admiral Kelly as superintendent), the first appointment offers didn't go out until 10 December. For the 3 years after that, the first appointment offers have gone out in November.

The waiting is so hard. As others have said- definitely harder for me than it is for my DS :).

Yes!! My DD has other coaches waiting for her answer and it's been so hard for her to tell them they just have to wait a little while longer!

DD just got 2 more college offers yesterday and 1 this morning all with outstanding scholarships, her sports and opportunity. The waiting is definitely not for the weak.

Out of interest - did she get her call after school? One of the things my son keeps reminding me is that if he gets a call while he is in class he won't be able to answer!

I think it varies. My daughter (4 years ago) missed the initial call while on the bus to a track meet.
 
Important to set up a professional voice mail greeting and check for messages!
 
My DD got her call in the morning while driving to school. When she got there and saw the area code the voicemail was from she was a bit freaked out but her BFF made her call on the spot. The good news made her useless for about half the day.

Absolutely - school counseling gave this advice right at the beginning of the year and for college etiquette in general. Counsellor mentioned, as a previous college admissions professional, if your voicemail says 'Hi you have reached party girl, just leave a message with details of where tonight's party is after the tone'....you were not likely to get too many call backs!

Good to know - thanks. Guessing there is no set MO but was curious as to what others had experienced.
