DS now has appointment to USNA. He's not sure if he should notify USCGA and if it would make any difference to them. He is 50/50 as to which he likes better, but was waitlisted at USCGA.

He does not need to notify anyone... he has until 01 MAY to make his decision. My DS got a call from someone in our area representing the CGA and talked to my DS about the CGA and asked him where he had been accepted and where he was considering. DS told him the the decision was between CGA and USNA. DS accepted USNA and turned down CGA.

Only because he was asked did my DS say anything.... many kids are accepted at other schools... does not mean that all the other schools need to know where your DS was accepted.

Good luck and maybe we will see you on I Day .. depending on his decision:thumb:

Of course you should notify them. There are others on the wait list that would love to get into CGA and you acceptance to USNA would allow that. Congratulations on your appointment to USNA

It sounds like faststreet's DS hasn't made his decision between USNA and CGA. Has an appointment to one; waitlisted for the other. I'm not sure that notifying CGA would remove him from the waitlist and get him an appointment to CGA. If he's truly 50/50, he should wait to hear from CGA, then weigh the pros and cons and decide which direction he wants to go if he holds appointments to both SAs. Good luck and congrats on the appointment to USNA!

Agreed , the OP has not decided where to go so no need to notify anyone until your decision is made . Best of luck to you !

It's completely up to him, but it won't make a difference to us if/when a wait list review board is convened. We're assuming (hoping) everyone on our wait list has been accepted to other colleges and service academies since the majority (if any) will not be appointed to CGA or at least not appointed before they need to commit to another school by May 1st. Applicants on our wait list really just need to notify us when they're absolutely no longer interested, for whatever reason, in attending CGA this year.
