Now for the long wait!....

Wait list appointments start after RA ends. But it can continue right up to R-Day.

Since the RA notification process concludes on April 1st, is it possible for waitlisted applicants to begin being notified April 2nd (technically)?

I believe that appointees have until May 1st to accept or turn down the appointment, so decisisons regarding waitlisted applicants likely won't happen until after that.

No, not yet! Placed 6th last year though. This may be his year!
Well, congrats again and good luck at states! DS is gearing up for states as well. Would give his right arm to wrestle for Coach Bratland. What state do you live in?

Does anyone know if the online status box will be checked next to the "Cadet Candidate Eval Board Review Complete" will be checked prior to possibly receiving a call? Do all appointees receive a call or only ones being recruited by a team or should we just keep checking the mailbox each day? The ability to pre-occupy my mind is becoming consistently more difficult each day!!

DS' portal doesn't even show the checklist anymore. Just a generic welcome page.

Check your portal. This is definitely faster that waiting for a letter in the mail.

Has anyone received an appointment lately, and if so, how were you notified - email, phone call, or just portal? Our DD's portal has been on the generic welcome page for weeks. I am going crazy checking the portal several times a day and having to log out of both windows after clicking on the Application link. I need to back off from all this anxiety (thankfully my DD is going on with her life because she knows I'm constantly checking), but I don't want to miss vital information one way or the other.

Actually that is a good point... when I read that there were 180/190 (or whatever that number was) appointments already given to the early applicants, I made a huge assumption that it meant there were that number that "ACCEPTED" their appointments.
Is that not the case, does that really only mean there were that many offers of appointment?
I know one of my sons classmates received an offer from both USCGA and USNA and he accepted the USNA offer (what was he thinking!)
Anyone have an answer to this?
If so, do you know what the historical acceptance typically is?
Of course, none of this really matters, it is just a topic to discuss... what really matters is whether my golden boy will receive one of those offers :)

Remember that, once offered an appointment, they have a while to decide to take it. My DS was offered regular decision appointments to both USCGA and USMA last year late in February, and to USAFA in March, and he had until May 1 to decide between them. He made his decision around mid-April. I remember that there were a quite a few waitlisted kids who were offered appointments to USCGA right after the May 1 deadline.

My DS received this email today, and so the wait continues :)
Anyone else got this recently? What does "review in Regular Admission" mean? Is there an "Unusual Admission" or "Irregular Admission"?
LOL, just glad to get an update from the academy

Dear Xxxxx,

Thank you for completing your application to the United States Coast Guard Academy. Your record has been scheduled for review in Regular Admission and will be forwarded to the Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board.

Decisions will normally begin to be published on a rolling basis in mid-February and all Regular Admission applicants will be notified of their admission decision no later than April 1st. Please contact LT Tim Kessell at Timothy.J.Kessell@uscga.edu if you have any questions about our review or selection process and contact your Admissions Officer if you have any questions about or just want to discuss the Academy.

Sincerely,

Regular Admissions applications versus Early Admissions applications

It would appear Admissions is catching up with the final rush of applicants, and is moving forward. Very impressed with how CGA handles their admissions communications. Go Bears!

Top to Bottom, USCG and USCGA are quality. I have been nothing but impressed with how they handle themselves. After participating in a SAR mission with them for one of my downed pilots, nothing but respect for this service.... RESPECT!
