DD got her acceptance letter [last night] to top choice school/NROTC placement. I’ve searched for the answer before but can’t seem to find - do we pay the acceptance fee? What’s next as far as fees?

If she received a scholarship AND cleared DoDMERB, then the fee "might" be covered by the scholarship depending on how the invoice is submitted to the unit. But if the university lists it as a separate fee, then the student (parent) typically pays that out of pocket.

The unit should notify the university of the scholarship, in which case they should not add in any late fees.

ALWAYS check with the unit for guidance. We have an expression within NROTC .... If you have seen one NROTC unit, you've seen jist one unit. Every one of us is unique based on state laws, university preferences, etc.

That’s exactly the info needed. Thank you - we’ll reach out!

Maybe I've overlooked this question somewhere else, but are housing/ tuition deposits reimbursed for scholarship winners once the student has shown up at the unit, completed NSI, + has cleared dodmerb?

The scholarship usually only pays for tuition. You can use it for room and board, but not both. Most deposits are not covered under the tuition. At least in my research or reading.

If DODMERB cleared and NSI is completed, then the Supply Technician for the unit will request an invoice from the university Bursar. The university will "usually" stop asking for money as they know the Navy will eventually pay the bill.
