NROTC accepted, school rejected.

My DD received scholarship to NROTC first choice, but that school rejected her, and she applied restrictive early action. Does anyone know whether she should request a placement at her 2nd or other choice before she knows if she is accepted to those schools? Or should she request to change now, hoping for admission? Thanks. I am new to this, NROTC is her plan B, as she is hoping for USNA, got her noms, just awaiting decision. And on a side note, is it worth it to contact admissions for that school and ask they reconsider her application in light of NROTC?

There is no harm that can come out of requesting a school change, since she can request a school change at anytime after getting the scholarship for any amount of times, and even then, she is under no obligation to actually join NROTC until her fall semester begins. Now when you say rejected, does that mean she was just flat out rejected, or just deferred to RD? If she was flat out rejected, she won't be considered for an admissions decision for the rest of cycle again, so contacting that school makes 0 difference :/

She should switch whatever safety school she has to her #1 spot. Then if she gets in a reach school, she can switch again, as beepybeetle mentioned.

Actually, once you have been given the scholarship and placed in a unit, your school rankings are meaningless. She would have to request that the scholarship be transferred to a different unit, which could even be one that was not on her original list of top 5.
