I am considering transferring to a Nrotc school within my area. I want to become a college programmer but was wondering about the requirements. I currently have 59 credit hours and would therefore still be considered a sophomore. Can I join the program this late? I read something that said I would have to do 6 weeks of training in Newport, RI to make up for the lost time. Has anyone else experienced this?

You should contact the Freshman advisor at your NROTC school, but here are the BASIC requirement as listed by Georgia Tech's NROTC program. It states that you CAN be a sophomore and be a College Programmer:

What are the requirements to apply for the college program at NROTC Georgia Tech?
All applicants must meet the basic requirements for the program. This requirements are summarized below:

  • Applicant must be an American citizen or be in process of becoming a naturalized American citizen.
  • Applicant must not be older than 27 years old by the time they graduate college and receive their commission. (There are waivers to this policy for students with prior military service.)
