NROTC - December graduation and service selection

Greetings everyone. I apologize if this has been asked before but I wasn't able to find anything in the search. My 3/C son is on track and considering graduating a semester early and I am curious how service selection works for December graduates. Do December graduates learn their fate at the same time as other 1/C mids in the fall or do they get their service selection results the prior spring? Also, are their any drawbacks to graduating early when it comes to service selection? Thanks in advance.
 
I believe selection for early graduates is still in the Fall senior year. I do know that Dec SWO grads have ship selection early(Nov I think), so I don’t think early grads have it earlier than other seniors. Hopefully someone will be able to confirm
 
The most up to date answer and best correlated to his situation would come from the staff of his NROTC unit. He'd need to ensure he's met all the pre-commissioning requirements well in advance. For example, the pre-commissioning physical or the test for prospective aviators.

That said, my son was a December grad (extra semester) and got his service assignment during Fall semester along with the mids graduating in the class behind him.

My son was the same. He took an extra semester and got his service assignment that fall.

Good to know! Thanks 😊. We were wondering how that works if the Mids need an extra semester. Just a possibility at this point - but didn’t know how it worked….
 
As a heads up, in case your child isn't tracking... graduating in Dec early is much different than graduating in Dec late (much more common). Make sure they are up with physicals, and required Nav Sci classes, etc.
