NROTC Decisions

Anyone heard any good (or bad) news yet this week?

Status still showing "No decision has been made yet..."

If you're still seeing that status, then you weren't a non-select from the 7 MAR board, as the non-select list already came out. So that's a positive in a certain respect. I believe Placement is just about through placing the recipients off that board, so it looks like your application will get rolled over to the next board, which doesn't start until 4 APR.

I was notified of a 4-Year Scholarship last Friday Afternoon. It didn't seem like a wave of them went out, since I didn't see anyone else post results on this forum. For everyone else still waiting, I believe there are 2 more boards (April 4-8 and April 18-22) so just keep waiting :)

Still "no Decision" here at least it is near the end. But at this point about the only thing that would change the new plan A would be a 4yr to Norwich if it covered every thing between ROTC fees and tuition and the school says they cover housing and board good luck to all that have already pretty much set a course and to those still in limbo hugs, love and hopes that you noy be as OCD as me so you can handle a last min plan.

Does anyone know approximately when NROTC ASR Scholarship decisions are released for Area 5?

My recruiter and the email I got told me that I could choose whatever college I wanted to go to, and the scholarship would be given to me for that school.
My son received the NROTC ISR scholarship too which does let you choose your school. Very few are given! Ultimately my son chose to accept his appointment to USNA and is now a plebe but it is a real thing. Congrats!!!

Looked on DS's NROTC application to see if any updates but the application is no longer there only application to apply for 2017 so guess have to standby for phone calls/snail mails for those still waiting. Glad DS decided to choose a school that only has AROTC so he is fine with not getting it.

Instead of logging into your portal, on the http://www.nrotc.navy.mil/ page, just press "check status of application". Thats what ive been doing for awhile

Can anyone explain to me what an application status of "Scholarship Selection/Placement System" on the NROTC application status site actually means? My DS has had this status since mid Feb. Does this mean he has been granted a scholarship but they are figuring out where to assign him or does it simply mean his application is completed but has not yet been in front of the board for a decision? Any insight would be appreciated. Why would it take so long to get the application in front of a board for a decision?

Firehawk, mine says the same thing when i log in, but a little further in and they give more detail. Here is what my portal says:

Scholarship Selection/Placement System
Status Information for your 2016 Scholarship Application

SSN: ********* Date of Birth: **-JAN-**

The NSTC Selection/Placement Office has received your application.

Missing Items
All required items have been processed.

Selection Status
No decision has been made on your application.

But I am just another applicant, I dont go through this every year. Maybe there is another meaning im missing

If your portal bears the same full message as that of JakeReitz, your application is still being considered. It may be looked at by quite a number of boards before either selection or rejection. With a board having just wrapped up this past Friday, you may hear something as soon as this coming Wednesday-Friday. If not, you'll know just before 1 MAY.

There is no additional information on the status portal other than the status I eluded to. Nothing below his SSN and DOB information. Only links back to the application (which in no longer available) and the "home" page. I take it this does not bode well for being granted a scholarship. May 1 is not far away, so we will know soon regardless. Thanks for the info.

That worked for us.

Has anyone received a decision this week?

My son found out today he was rejected for the NROTC Marine option.

His quals:
3.80+/4.0 gpa at a very good high school
34 ACT
Accepted to engineering programs at Purdue, VTech, Wisconsin and Iowa State
Multiple letter winner in football and track
3 years student gov
2 years United Way county wide student board
Honor society
Full AP class schedule including calc and physics
Orchestra
Maxxed out on pull ups and situps, 12 minute on the run for the PT
Worked out with the local office as schedule allowed - usually 2 x week
Applied in October

So I guess it's onto the 3 year process. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Apologize for incorrect term usage as I'm a newbie here.

Wow that's crazy that he didn't get it. Maybe something with the interview

I wonder if he was Navy if he would have made it since MO it has always been a lot less winners than any others so as the numbers for 3yr increase and 4yr decrease drastically in all branches if it is not REALLY seen in this already smaller pool.

I assume when you say onto the three year process, that he plans to enroll in NROTC MO as a college programmer. Arrive fit. Participate and volunteer whenever he can. Get started on the 4 year application now and review it with the cadre prior to submitting. Basically be on the ball and be prepared to hit it out of the park. One question...
Maxxed out on pull ups and situps, 12 minute on the run for the PT
That run time doesn't seem correct for the three mile run. Is that a typo? If it's not then he has to be the fastest man on earth.

@kinnem - gah - you're correct - massive typo on my part and now I"m questioning myself - I do know his PFT score was 267.

And yes about enrolling as a college programmer (I'm assuming that means he'd be joining while in college). Right now, he's leaning VTech so he can do the Corps of Cadets.

Question - can he use the same people for recommendations as he did the first go around? Also, when you say for the cadre to review, are you talking the local recruiting office? One last question for now - is it improper/untoward to ask the local office for a letter of introduction for use when he goes to college?

Thank you
