I just received my NROTC 4-year. I am now worried about the DoDMERB, I have Chiari malformation and NF both of which I have no symptoms of and never have. Because of the Chiari I was rated for life insurance so I know it will come up. Any advice?
Thank you.

Unfortunately, neurofibromatosis is on the list of conditions not normally waivered by the Navy. Don't give up yet, let the medical process play out and see what happens. Good luck!

I figured it would be, thank you! I just didn't know because since my diagnosis there has been nothing to show any symptoms. Thank you again.

What the military looks at isn't just current symptoms, but consequences of future ones. I have a friend that was in the Army and had NF (wasn't diagnosed until after commissioning since he didn't have any symptoms), but was then medically released due to it. His symptoms didn't interfere with his duty, but they still put him out. Not trying to be a downer, just want to explain that they definitely look beyond "I haven't had any symptoms."
